William is an approximately 2 year old sable male. He came from a puppymill seizure (click here for the news story and there is also a video on the site). He is working on socialization, and has attended obedience classes to learn how to live in the "real" world outside the puppy mill. Once William is properly socialized, he will be available for adoption.
Update 5/16/10: William is now welcoming dogs, visitors, and his foster dad at the front door when they arrive. He's also fallen into being a true member of his "pack" by barking and pawing for attention as well as appropriately letting his foster sister know it's not okay to step on him. On occasion William's even taken the initiative to "steal" toys from his siblings. He's made a noticeable amount of social progress in the last few months.
Update 3/26/10: William is getting more playful and is still shy, but doing better. He would do well in a home with another dog, one that is not shy and loves to play. If you have experience with shy dogs or have rescued a Sheltie like William before, please contact us for more details. Update 3/10/10: William is learning to play with other dogs and is slowly coming out of his shell. He willingly runs to "his spot" on the couch. When his foster-siblings start playing his ears perk up, and he gradually joins in with a little bit of "tug" and chase. He's still shy, and loud noises (other than his own playful bark) are scary things. William seems to prefer men - he is doing really well at his foster dad's house, and is actually starting to play inside! He should go to a home with other dogs, since he likes to run and play. He would do best in a family that understands shy Shelties, and is willing to continue working with him to overcome his shyness. He is a very sweet boy, and wants to be brave but just isn't quite sure how. With the right situation, he'll do very well and be a loving companion!
