Adopted!
Summer is a sweet girl! She is approx. 8 years old, and is very overweight. She is wonderful, smart, adorable and well-behaved. Summer is crate trained - all you have to do is say "Crate Summer" and she walks right in! She is debarked, so she will go to the door and make noises to go out. She "barks" at the TV... .it's hysterically funny. Then when told No or Stop, she will lie down and watch the screen for a while. She is sweet, lovable, sociable, well-behaved and quiet.....
She is bounding (well, lumbering) around her foster mom's back yard with her dog after squirrels. She loves rawhide chew toys. She loves to be scratched and petted. She loves going for (short) walks. Summer likes to flop down in the middle of whatever is happening and keep an eye on everyone - she looks like a rug all spread out. She sleeps on the floor by her foster mom's bed at night. She likes hanging with her foster sister, but she would be fine as an only dog, too.
Update 12/10/09 - Summer actually initiated playing with her foster sister Jazz...she got both of her front feet up on Jazz's back (yes,a bit laboriously) and then they ran around the house for 5 -10 minutes, pawing at each other, jumping at each other and chewing (gently) on each other. WOW! Actual Sheltie playing!!!! This is a first for her!! She is also walking farther and not getting out of breath, and she is running/trotting around the yard with Jazz chasing squirrels and what-not.
She is currently on a strict diet to trim her down, and get her ready for bikini season next summer! Summer is housebroken, and walks well on a leash. She spent Thanksgiving in East TN, where she enjoyed plenty of good times and relaxation! She's laid back and loveable - doesn't meet a stranger! Summer will need to remain on a strict diet until she loses her extra love handles. Won't you consider adding a workout partner to your daily walking routine??
